Today we are releasing Classic Anagrams, a new game mode on Anagrama that strips word puzzles down to their fastest, most competitive form.

Classic Anagrams gives you a bank of scrambled letters and 60 seconds on the clock. Form as many valid words as you can before time runs out. Every word is validated server-side against the same dictionary used across all Anagrama games.

How It Works

Each round presents a set of letters drawn from a curated word pool. You can click letters or type on your keyboard to form words. Submissions are validated instantly against the server-side dictionary — no guessing whether a word is real.

  • Minimum three letters per word. Longer words earn significantly more points.
  • No repeated words. Found words stay on screen so you can see what you have already submitted.
  • Instant replay. When the timer ends, you can restart with a new letter set immediately.
  • 60-second rounds. Every round is exactly one minute — fast enough for a quick session, long enough to test your vocabulary.

Scoring and Difficulty

Scoring follows a quadratic curve based on word length. Each word scores length² × 10 points — so a 3-letter word earns 90 points, a 4-letter word earns 160, a 5-letter word earns 250, and a 6-letter word earns 360. This rewards vocabulary depth and longer finds without punishing players who rely on shorter words.

Score = length² × 10. A 3-letter word = 90 pts, 4-letter = 160 pts, 5-letter = 250 pts, 6-letter = 360 pts. Longer words are always worth more, so hunt for them.

Difficulty scales with the letter set. Some rounds feature common letter combinations that yield dozens of words. Others use rarer consonant clusters that demand more creative thinking. The system selects letter sets to balance challenge and reachability.

Fair Play

Every word submission is verified on the server before it counts. The dictionary is the same one used across all Anagrama game modes, which means no obscure entries and no inconsistencies between games. If it counts in Classic Anagrams, it counts everywhere.
