Getting Started
MCP Server
Connect your AI coding assistant to the Anagrama API documentation using the Model Context Protocol. Your assistant gets instant access to all endpoint references, code examples, rate limits, and authentication guides — no copy-pasting required.
Tools
search_anagrama_docs
Keyword search across all documentation pages. Returns titles, paths, and content ranked by relevance.
get_anagrama_doc_page
Fetch the full content of any doc page by path. Up to 2,500 characters of endpoint details and examples.
list_anagrama_endpoints
Browse all pages organized by section. Filter by group: Word API, Dictionary API, Puzzle API, and more.
get_code_example
SDK code examples for any endpoint in TypeScript, Python, Go, and curl. Optionally filter to one language.
get_type_definitions
TypeScript interfaces for request params and response objects. Covers all endpoints plus error and rate limit types.
Prompts
Pre-built prompts that scaffold common workflows. Your AI assistant can invoke these to get a head start on integration.
build_word_game
Plan and implement a word game. Choose language (TypeScript, Python, Go) and game type (anagram, quiz, daily challenge, multiplayer).
integrate_anagrama_api
Step-by-step integration guide. Covers SDK setup, first API call, and error handling. Specify your framework (Next.js, FastAPI, Express, etc.).
debug_anagrama_error
Diagnose API errors. Pass an error code or HTTP status and get a targeted fix with links to relevant docs.
Setup
Run this command in your terminal:
claude mcp add anagrama-docs --transport http https://playanagrama.com/mcpThe server will be available in your next Claude Code session. Run /mcp to verify it appears in your tool list.
Example usage
Once connected, your AI assistant can query the documentation directly. Here's what a typical interaction looks like:
How do I validate a word with the Anagrama API?
Let me search the Anagrama docs for word validation...
search_anagrama_docs({ query: "validate word" })
Send a POST to /api/v1/words/validate with your word in the body. Pass your API key as a Bearer token. The response includes whether the word is valid and its length...
How it works
The MCP server is hosted on playanagrama.com/mcp and serves a pre-built search index of all documentation pages. No API key is required to use the MCP server — it only provides read access to public documentation.
- Stateless — each request is independent, no sessions to manage
- Fast — keyword search over a pre-indexed dataset, no external lookups
- 94 pages indexed — covering all API endpoints, guides, error references, and SDK examples
- No authentication — the MCP server reads public docs only, no API key needed to connect
Verify your connection
Send an MCP initialize request to confirm the server is reachable:
curl -X POST https://playanagrama.com/mcp \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
-d '{
"jsonrpc": "2.0",
"id": 1,
"method": "initialize",
"params": {
"protocolVersion": "2025-03-26",
"capabilities": {},
"clientInfo": { "name": "test", "version": "1.0.0" }
}
}'You should receive a JSON response with serverInfo.name: "anagrama-docs" and a list of available tool capabilities.
