Getting Started

Quick Start

Get up and running in under a minute. Fetch random words, generate puzzles, validate guesses, and look up definitions with just a few lines of code.

Choose your language

No SDK needed — use any HTTP client.

1. Get your API key

Generate a key in Developer Portal → API Keys. Copy it immediately — it's only shown once. Then either set it as an environment variable or pass it to the SDK:

Set environment variable (recommended)
export ANAGRAMA_API_KEY="ak_your_key_here"
2

2. Fetch random words

Make your first API call. If you set the ANAGRAMA_API_KEY env var, the SDK picks it up automatically. Otherwise, pass it to the constructor.

bash
curl https://api.playanagrama.com/api/v1/words/random?count=3 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer ak_your_key_here"
3

3. Parse the response

You'll get back an array of random words and the count.

JSON
{
  "words": [
    "crane",
    "plume",
    "spire"
  ],
  "count": 3
}
