Dictionary API
Multi-Language Lookup
The Dictionary API supports 871 languages with over 10 million entries. Pass the lang query parameter to any Word Lookup or Prefix Search request. Definitions, etymology, and word forms are returned from the source language's Wiktionary data.
The lang Parameter
Pass any ISO 639 language code as the lang query parameter. Defaults to en (English) when omitted. Use GET /v1/dictionary/languages to get the full list of available languages and their entry counts. If an unsupported language code is provided, the API returns a 404 LANGUAGE_NOT_FOUND error.
Pass ?examples=true to include usage examples in definitions (e.g. "examples": ["¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás?"]). All filtering parameters (pos, fields, definitions, examples) work with any language.
